The University of Memphis Department of History is pleased to announce THE FIFTH ANNUAL GRADUATE STUDENT CONFERENCE IN AFRICAN AMERICAN HISTORY which will be held September 18-20, 2003 on the University of Memphis campus.
Graduate students wishing to present a paper based on original research on any topic in African American history are invited to submit a curriculum vitae and a one-page abstract which discusses the paper's thesis, sources, and conclusions.
We will be recognizing the approaching 50th anniversary of the Brown v. Board of Education with a special panel session dedicated to the issue of African American education and the integration of schools. Therefore papers devoted to this and related topics are especially welcome.
