The graduate students of Temple University’s Department of African American Studies continue to create an environment in which graduate students in African American Studies, Africalogy, Africology, Afro-American Studies, Black Studies, Africana Studies, and Pan-African Studies discuss their research, theories and perspectives within the discipline of African American Studies and any of its subject/content areas. The 2003 conference is sub-titled: Reaching Back Into Tradition, which includes the intellectual traditions of Ancient Kmt, the American Negro Academy, the Institute of the Black World, etc. Our African intellectual tradition should inspire the new generation of African American Studies scholars. This is our call and our mission. Let us reach back into tradition!
