CALL FOR PAPERS – GRADUATE CONFERENCE
Abstracts of around 150 words are invited for papers for a one-day regional, interdisciplinary, graduate conference to be held at the Department of French, University of Sheffield, on Thursday 18th September 2003. It is envisaged that the conference will attract participants principally from the Midland and Northern regions of England. However participation is welcomed from any interested graduate students, and from all disciplines with a focus on France or Francophone Studies.
The theme of the conference will be ‘Conflict’. This theme will be interpreted very widely, and could encompass for instance:
- literary conflict,
- linguistic conflict,
- family conflict,
- sibling rivalry,
- conflict between the generations,
- the conflict of war,
- conflict of class,
- conflict of the sexes,
- conflict of ideology,
- conflict of religion,
- conflict of allegiance.
This list is not intended to be exclusive, and it may be possible to include papers on other subjects.
Papers should be approximately 20-30 minutes maximum in length, following which there will be an opportunity for questions and discussion.
Participants will need to register for the conference. Details will be available in due course.
