The Standing Group on International Relations of the ECPR has sponsored open Pan-European conferences in Heidelberg in 1992, Paris in 1995 and Vienna in 1998, and most recently the 4th Pan-European Conference was held in Canterbury in 2001. These triennial conferences have attracted scholars and researchers from all over Europe and elsewhere and have become a regular feature of the academic calendar.
FIFTH PAN-EUROPEAN CONFERENCE 2004 - THE HAGUE 9-11 SEPTEMBER
The venue for the Fifth Pan-European Conference organised by the ECPR Standing Group on International Relations will be The Hague in the Netherlands. The dates for the conference have been set as 9-11 September 2004.
The theme for the Conference will be 'Constructing World Order' - a theme we expect will be enhanced by its location in the city of i.a. the International Court of Justice, the Peace Palace, the International Criminal Court, and the Yugoslav Tribunal.
CALL FOR SECTION CHAIRS
The Steering Committee of the SGIR hereby issues a Call for Section Chairs for the 2004 Pan-European Conference.
The academic programme for the Conference will be organised in the tried and tested format of Sections and Panels. A section is a number of panels linked by a common theme. Section chairs organise the panels, select panel chairs, and take responsibility for the actual execution of their section's part of the Conference programme.
A section may consist of (at most) ten 90-minute panel sessions during the programme. The actual number of panels in each case is flexible, although each section should aim for a minimum of three panels.
Each 90-minute panel should ideally comprise three papers plus a discussant and chair, or two papers plus two discussants and chair.
Section Chairs are encouraged to seek participants from Central and Eastern Europe.
SECTION CHAIR PROPOSALS
Those interested in being designated as a Section Chair are hereby asked to submit a proposal. This proposal must include the following information:
- Name, position and institution of proposed Section Chair;
- E-mail address;
- The same for any Co-Chair;
- A short title of proposed Section;
- A 250-word outline of the main aims of the section;
- A tentative indication of possible panel titles, and possible panel chairs.
All proposals should be sent to the Programme Chair.
The closing date for Section Chair proposals is April 30th, 2003
The deadline has been extended to May 7, 2003
