I am an associate managing editor at Book Builders in charge of a three volume encyclopedia on Monarchies and Dynasties throughout history. I am hoping members of your organization might be interested in writing entries for the Monarchies project.
The general editor is Dr. John Middleton, Emeritus Professor at Yale University Anthropology Department. I have been assigning entries from the headword list to writers who are accustomed to careful research, documentation. Unfortunately, the pay scale is low. For the four lengths of entries, short, 200-400 words - $15/entry, medium, 401-800 words - $30/entry, L1, 801-1400 words - $65/entry, and a very few L2s, 1401-2500 words @ $115/entry. I am hoping to assign 25 entries of varying lengths to each freelancer. These can be related so that research for one leads to information on another. All entry writers will be acknowledged in the frontmatter of each of the three volumes.
If you are interested in discussing the project with me, please email me or call so that I can answer your questions, give you some sample documents, and show you the list of entries remaining to be written. I will then sak you to write a medium-length sample from your choice list. After the project editor reviews the entry, a contract for approximately 25 entries (including your sample), with drafts due in about three weeks, will go out to you.
I believe the work to be very rewarding, and I hope you will want to participate. I can be reached via e-mail or by phone.
