Call for proposals on the history of the Gilded Age and Progressive Era.
As an affiliated society of the American Historical Association, the Society
for the History of the Gilded Age and Progressive Era (SHGAPE) wishes to
sponsor one or more panels featuring the work of advanced ABD's and recent
Ph.Ds. The SHGAPE meets at the 2004 AHA will be in Washington, D.C., Jan.
8-11, 2004.
If you are an advanced Ph.D. or a recent Ph.D. who has written or is writing
on any aspect of the Gilded Age or Progressive please consider participating
in one of these panels. If you are mentoring a graduate student in this
field, consider encouraging your student to submit a proposal.
The proposal should consist of the following materials:
- a brief c.v. (with email address prominently displayed)
- An abstract of your dissertation
- An abstract of the paper you wish to present.
- A brief statement from the chair of your dissertation committee, indicating
support of your proposal.
Send these materials AS A SINGLE EMAIL ATTACHMENT (Word for Windows
preferred) and clearly marked as "SHGAPE PROPOSAL" to the emails listed below.
THE DEADLINE IS APRIL 1.
The SHGAPE Program Committee (Ed Krapol, Dan Letwin, Nancy Unger and Donna
Gabaccia) will select participants, arrange for chairs and commentators on
the sessions and notify applicants of their status by May 1.
