Robert W. Fogel, Charles R. Walgreen Distinguished Service Professor of American Institutions at the University of Chicago and Nobel Laureate in Economics, 1993, will offer reflection on the scholarly controversies concerning nature of slavery and its role in the development of American civilization in a lecture entitled “The Slavery Debates, 1952-1990: A Memoir.”
