An interdisciplinary scholarly symposium on the heritage of northern European immigrant groups to Texas culture and heritage, sponsored by the Swedish Studies Excellence Endowment and the Texas Chair in Czech Studies, University of Texas at Austin
Our two-day symposium celebrates the history and contributions of six immigrant groups in Texas: Germans, Swedes, Norwegians, Danes, Poles, and Czechs. Talks by experts, musical demonstrations, craft presentations, and professional exhibitions will illuminate the unique heritages and experiences of groups that are frequently overlooked in discussions of ethnicity, race and immigrant assimilation. The conference has something for everyone: schoolchildren, students, scholars, and interested people should all check us out!
