The Rothermere American Institute invites paper submissions for a one-day conference on “The Cultural Politics of Multiculturalism” to be held in Oxford on Saturday 15 November 2003. Historians, political scientists, sociologists, and cultural and literary specialists of the United States are all welcome to submit papers. Any topic relating to the history, development, and/or cultural consequences of multiculturalism broadly conceived will be considered. Research that employs comparisons between the United States and other nations is particularly encouraged. Dr Paul Gilroy, Professor of Sociology and African American Studies at Yale University, will provide the keynote address. The RAI invites submissions of proposals for individual papers that will be arranged into disciplinary and interdisciplinary panels. The deadline for proposals is April 11, 2003.
