The workshop will focus on many questions related to the relationship between science, politics, scientific careers, disciplinary changes as a result of the mobility of scientists, the role of local contexts in the twentieth century. Participants are invited to reflect on the following questions:
- What kind of scientific internationalisms prevailed during the 20th Century?
- How did it develop depending on the specific historical conditions and actors involved?
- What personal, institutional and/or political factors prompted scientists to migrate?
- What was the effect of their mobility in both their institution/country of origin and the host institution/country?
- How were patterns of collaboration affected as a result of their moves?
- Was their migration an important factor for the reception of their scientific work?
