The Institute for Edwardian Studies seeks contributions for the premiere issue of its online journal, Edwardian Studies.
The editors view the work of history at the dawn of the twenty-first century as inherently inter-disciplinary. We welcome approaches that are dynamic, relevant and eloquent and fruitfully take conceptualizations and themes from other fields. As a result, we will feature contributions from “new” fields influenced by cross-disciplinary engagements, post-colonialism or the “linguistic turn” as well as from more “traditional” political, economic and social histories. Furthermore, we welcome the work of all historians, from
well established professionals to graduate students.
Also, we are interested in serving as an up-to-date exchange for current and evolving research into Edwardian history; thus, we also intend to offer a forum in which recent conference papers will be reprinted, and we invite the submission of reviews of recent works on Edwardian Britain.
Edwardian Studies is primarily concerned with the “Edwardian period,”
traditionally defined as beginning with the accession of Edward VII in 1901 and ending with the outbreak of war in 1914. However, the editors are aware that history rarely fits neatly into the boxes of established periodization and will accept studies that reach from the Edwardian period back into the late Victorian era or forward into the First World War or the Inter-War periods.
We plan to release our first issue in October 2003. To be considered for this issue, prospective material should be received by 15 February 2003. However, material may be submitted at any time for consideration in later issues. If you would like to submit an article, review or conference paper (or if you are interested in acting as a reader-reviewer for the journal)please visit the Edwardian Studies web page at www.EdwardianStudies.org or contact the editor directly:
