Southern Industrialization Project Call for Essays
The second volume of the series New Directions in the History of Southern Economy, to be published by the University of Missouri Press under the sponsorship of the Southern Industrialization Project (SIP) will be devoted to the theme of “Technology, Innovation and Southern Industrialization.”
This volume will address questions about the uniqueness of southern technology, in a chosen time period, industrial sector, and/or geographic area, in relation to regional economy and industry, also in comparison with other national or international realities and with the state of advancement of technological innovation in a given branch of manufacturing. Consideration of interregional flows of information, machinery, and expertise as well as of the circumstances and conditions leading to the formation of a southern technological community will be most welcome.
Essay proposals no longer than two typewritten pages and a cv should be sent to both the series editors by March 25, 2003. For more information, please contact the editors.
