Sexuality Network of the 5th European Social Science History Conference, Berlin, March 2004
Papers dealing with historical perspectives on (but not limited to): heterosexual relations: premarital (illegitimacy, courtship), marital, extramarital (adultery, divorce); same-sex relations; masturbation; prostitution; sexually transmitted diseases; abortion, birth control; sex education; moral reform organisations; legal regulation of sexual behaviour; medical views; sexual science; pornography; censorship; subcultures; 'perversions'/paraphilias; sexual violence; historiography of sexualities are solicited for the Sexuality Network of the 5th European Social Science History Conference, Alexander Humboldt University Berlin, 24-27 March 2004. The conference theme is Shared Histories: Transnational Dimensions of Social History, and panels or papers which address transnational aspects of the history of sexualities are especially welcome.

We are particularly open to suggestions for potential joint panels with other ESSHC networks (e.g. women/gender, education and childhood, ethnicity and migration, family and demography, criminal justice, rural, oral history, health, religion, theory, urban, antiquity, middle ages, Africa, Asia, Latin America).
Further details on the ESSHC can be found on the website. This conference is characterised by a lively exchange in many small groups, rather than by formal plenary sessions. The Conference welcomes papers and sessions on any topic and any historical period. Papers and sessions are organised in a large number of thematic networks. The deadline for sending in paper and session proposals, and for pre-registration, is 1 April 2003.
