Call for Papers for the Canadian Association for American Studies Conference in October, 2003 on "Authenticity and Contention." Proposals will be considered on the concept of authenticity in America as it refers to racial profiling and the notion of authentic citizenship, gender identification and sexuality, representation, claims for an authentic humanity and lines of descent, documentation and counterfeit, illegitimacy, claims of authentic belonging and rootedness, biological authenticity and medical discourses. We are seeking proposals from the disciplines throughout and affiliated with American Studies. The conference will be held in Winnipeg, Manitoba on October 17 to 19, 2003. Proposals should be a maximum of 250 words and sent by April 1, 2003.
