The Citadel Conference on the Civil Rights Movement in South Carolina

The Citadel Conference on the Civil Rights Movement in South Carolina will be held in Charleston from March 5-8, 2003. The meeting will consist of 22 panel sessions dealing with a wide range of topics within the history of the civil rights era in the Palmetto State. Panelists will include former activists and elected officials as well as historians. Among the featured participants are: John Hope Franklin, Joseph A. Delaine, Jr., Matthew Perry, Harvey Gantt, Charles McDew, Cleveland Sellers, Constance Curry, Hayes Mizell, Guy and Candie Carawan, Ernest F. Hollings, John C. West, Jack Bass, Dan Carter, Gavin Wright, Anthony Badger, George Tindall, Charles Joyner, Walter Edgar, James Cobb, and Vernon Burton. All interested persons are cordially invited to attend.
