Police in America. This session invites papers on policing in the United
States. I encourage proposals on theoretical, historical and cultural
perspectives on the police and the nature of policing. Possible topics may
include, but are not limited to: police and political history,
proffesionalization and reform, the importance of community policing in urban
culture and life, increased surveillance and civil rights, or the responses to
9/11 including "Total Information Awareness." Contact information below. Please send one page CV and 300 word abstract. Deadline: January 15, 2003
