Uysal-Walker Archive of Turkish Oral Narrative
Drs. Uysal and Walker were Professors of English, at Ankara University and Texas Tech University, respectively. During 1961-1962 academic year, Dr. Walker and his wife, Barbara, were in Ankara to fullfil the requirements of the Fulbright Grant Dr. Walker was awarded. There, Walkers met Professor Ahmet Edip Uysal (See his bio). Shortly afterward work towards an Archive began, culminating in the Uysal-Walker Archive of Turkish Oral Narrative we know today. After the first ten years of fieldwork, in many villages, the task of organization and the need for a permanent place began occupying their thoughts. With these concerns in the background, the original Founders eventually donated their holdings to Texas Tech University in 1980.
The Uysal-Walker Archive of Turkish Oral Narrative webpage is already linked by major research universities from around the world, through their academic programs.
