Seeking panel participants for the 2004 American Historical Assoc. conference in Washington, DC, Jan. 8-11, 2004. Tentative panel title: "The Horse at War." Goal of the panel will be to explore the various crucial roles played by horses in warfare, e.g., communications, reconnaissance, battle mount, a means of moving men, equipment, and supplies, etc. Ideally, the panel will examine this topic comparatively, both from different chronological and geographical perspectives and in terms of the specific role examined. My paper will explore the economic role of the heavy cavalry war horse in the 16th c. western European "Military Revolution." Two additional panelists, comment, and chair are sought.
Please submit via e-mail an abstract (panelists only) and a brief c.v. as Word attachment(s) no later than January 10, 2003. Submission deadline for the conference is February 15, 2003.
