The conference aims at exploring relationships between the English language, English-speaking cultures, and diverse mappings of space, symbolic terrains and meaningful divisions in a globalizing world, borders and borderlands, lines of communication and their failure, moments of silence and pregnant pauses.
Possible topics include:

- gaps and/in canons
- silence and creativity
- globalization and cultural divisions
- globalization and the English language
- the Divided Kingdom
- literature and markets
