The annual Teaching Academic Survival Skills Conference is accepting proposals for presentations. The deadline is December 6, 2002, and proposals should be sent to the address below. The conference takes place March 9-11 in West Palm Beach, FLA. For those not familiar with TASS, it is multi-disciplinary and focuses on the teaching of at-risk or under-prepared students. TASS does not encourage presenters to read papers, but instead gives 50-minute slots for presentations that interact with audiences while driving home key components of pedagogy, services, or programs that can help students learn. Some possible topics include:
- First Year Experience
- Service Learning
- uses of technology
- study skills
- distance education
- basic pedagogical ideas concerning writing, reading, math, social sciences, and ESL
You can contact Harry Prats at via email or phone for more information and precise guidelines for submission of presentations. Information can also be found at our web site.
