Organized by the History Graduate Student Association at Virginia Tech, the 6th Annual Brian Bertoti "Innovative Perspectives in History" Conference provides graduate student an opportunity to present their research in a constructive and cordial academic environment. The conference takes place April 4th and 5th, 2003, on the campus of Virginia Tech, in Blacksburg, VA.
Graduate Students from all disciplines are encouraged to submit papers, ranging, but not limited to, the fields below:
United States/Canada/Latin America
Europe/Russia
Africa/Middle East
Asia/Australia/Pacific Studies
Topics within these fields can include transatlantic studies, race, class, and gender studies, global studies, comparative history, digital history projects, and science and technology studies.
*A prize of $100 will be awarded to the best paper presented at the conference.
Guest Speakers include:
Dr. Ruth Schwartz Cowan, distinguished professor of the History and Sociology of Science at the University of Pennsylvania.
Dr. Grace Elizabeth Hale, associate professor of history at the University of Virginia.
Please submit a one-page abstrace and brief vita by January 15, 2003.
