THE DEPARTMENT OF COMPARATIVE WORLD LITERATURE & CLASSICS INVITES PAPERS RELATED TO ALL ASPECTS OF THE CONFERENCE TOPIC OF LITERARY, ARTISTIC AND POLITICAL VISIONS OF ANCIENT ROME IN PERIODS FROM THE ANTIQUITY TO THE MODERN ERA
THE FOLLOWING PANELS HAVE BEEN PROPOSED BUT ADDITIONAL SUGGESTIONS FOR PANELS ARE WELCOME.

- ROMAN HOLIDAY (TRAVEL IN THE ETERNAL CITY)
- ROME UNDERGROUND (ARCHAEOLOGICAL, SOCIAL AND POLITICAL VIEWS)
- THUMBS UP? (ROME GOES TO THE MOVIES)
- ROME: THEATRUM MUNDI (ROMAN DRAMA AND ITS PROGENY)
- ROMA AMOR (ROME AS THE CITY OF LOVE)
- CAESAR’S PALACE (AMERICAN ARCHITECTURE AND ROME)
- DOMINA PINGUIS CANTAT (ROME IN OPERA, MUSICAL COMEDY & NON-VOCAL
MUSIC)
PAPERS SHOULD ARE EXPECTED TO RUN ABOUT 20 MINUTES. SEND A 250-400 WORD ABSTRACT OR PANEL PROPOSAL BY DECEMBER 20, 2002 TO THE ADDRESS BELOW.
Note in your proposal any visual resource needs including slides, VHS or power point projector. Please include contact information over the winter holidays. Notification will arrive in early January 2003.
