In the summer of 2003 the National Humanities Center will offer three institutes designed to provide junior faculty in departments of literature and other disciplines the opportunity for intensive critical study of a single text or small group of texts. The institutes will engage literary works deeply through close reading. Each institute will include only twelve participants and will be led by a distinguished scholar.

The National Humanities Center will supply all texts and cover travel, meal, and lodging costs. Participants will receive a stipend of $1,500.
