Consortium on Revolutionary Europe
Lafayette, Louisiana February 21-24, 2003
CALL FOR PAPERS
In February of 2003 the Consortium on Revolutionary Europe will meet at the
University of Louisiana at Lafayette - a.k.a. l'Université des Acadiens - in
the heart of the Acadian prairie.
Since 2003 is the occasion of the bicentennial of the Louisiana Purchase,
papers or panels related to the conjunction of cultures that came together in
Louisiana at that time will be very welcome. Keynote speaker will be ROBERT DARNTON; Eugen Weber will speak at the banquet.
Papers and panels related to your current research in the general area of
Revolutionary Europe (1750-1850), and the ramifications of these revolutions
around the world will, of course, be welcomed also.
Proposals should include titles for papers or panels; abstracts; short cvs,
including 3-mail and postal addresses. Proposals will be accepted as late as
November 30, but the sooner they are received, the better.
The conference hotel is the Lafayette Hilton. The conference rate will be
$75.00, with a cut off date of February 6, 2003. Reservations may be made by
calling 1-800-HILTONS. For further information go to www.lafayette.hilton.com.
The conference dates - from February 20 through February 22 - fall near Mardi Gras (March 4). You will thus be afforded the opportunity to sample the
uniquely rambunctious and old régime delights of Mardi Gras, Cajun style.
