Those making arrangements to attend the annual meeting of the American Anthropological Association in New Orleans should take note of the following change in schedule. The session, "The Popes Against the Jews: A Conversion and Reception," will be held thursday, November 21 (6:15-7:30 in Calildo C, Hyatt Regency New Orleans at Louisiana Superdome), and not on friday as annonced in the prelinminary meeting program.
The session is devoted to the reception of David Kertzer's recent book, "The Popes Against the Jews: The Vatican's Role in the Rise of Modern Anti-Semitism" (Knopf, 2001). The session will include Kertzer's reflections on responses to the book, comments by Guy Manoue and Joelle Bahloul, and discussion led by Judith Goldstein. The event promises to be a timely and fascinating one.
