Contributors are being sought for World Environments, a six-volume series of reference books that will be published by ABC-CLIO in 2003 and 2004. World Environments is a reference source intended for students and the general public. It will provide readers with detailed, objective, and current information on a wide range of environmental and conservation issues facing nations around the globe. Each of the six volumes in the series will focus on a specific region of the world: North America; Europe; Asia; Latin America; Africa and the Middle East; and Australia and Oceania.
All assignments for the volumes on North America, Europe, and Asia have been made. We are now seeking contributors for the remaining volumes in the series--Latin America, Africa and the Middle East, and Australia and Oceania. As with the first three volumes, each of the remaining works in the series are composed of chapters devoted to the following issues: Population and Land Use; Biodiversity; Parks, Preserves, and Wildlands; Forests; Agriculture; Freshwater; Oceans and Coastal Areas; Energy and Transportation; Air Quality and the Atmosphere; and History of Environmental Activism. Each chapter will be approximately 8,000-9,000 words in length (excluding bibliography).
Potential contributors interested in researching and writing one of these chapters for the Latin America, Africa and the Middle East, or Australia and Oceania volumes should contact the editor by Oct. 21, 2002, for further information on the project, including detailed guidelines, sample chapters, renumeration, submission deadline options, and a list of unassigned entries.
