The Women’s Studies Program of Northeastern University invites you to a lecture titled “Rising Tide: Gender Equality & Cultural Change around the World” by Dr. Pippa Norris, the McGuire Lecturer in Comparative Politics at the John F. Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University.
This lecture is about how many women experienced growing equality during the twentieth century in education and work, in marriage and the family, and in public life. Yet the force of this ‘rising tide’ has varied among rich and poor societies around the globe, as well as among younger and older generations. Rising Tide sets out to understand how modernization has changed cultural attitudes towards gender equality and to analyze the political consequences of this process.
This lecture will be on Thursday, October 24, 2002, at the Frost Lounge in the Ell Building from 4:00 – 6:00 PM at Northeastern University’s main Boston campus. This event is free and open to the public. For more information on this event please call the Women’s Studies Program of Northeastern University or e-mail questions
