DEADLINE for proposals: December 1, 2002
The Historical Society of New Mexico will hold its 2003 Annual Meeting and Conference on April 3-5th, 2003 in Gallup, New Mexico.
The Society is now accepting proposals for papers, sessions and programs on any aspect of New Mexico history, the Borderlands, or the greater Southwest. Papers on archaeology, anthropology, education, politics, science, biography, bibliography, historiography and other social sciences that are within this scope are welcome. Given the location of the conference, topics related to the history of western New Mexico, Navajos,Zunis, coal mining and the railroad will be given special consideration.
Individual papers or presentations should be limited to twenty minutes in length (approximately 10-12 double-spaced pages). Individual papers will be grouped with one or two others into thematic sessions of seventy-five (75) minutes each and assigned a moderator. Proposals for complete sessions are also welcome. These should consist of at least two papers on a thematic or related topic and include a moderator.
All proposals must include a title and a short abstract of the proposed paper (unless the title serves as a fairly complete abstract), as well as the name, address (electronic and real), organizational affiliation (if any) and basic biographical information on the presenter. Proposals for sessions should include this information for all participants.
