WAR & SECURITY
Unravelling the Past,Interpreting the Present, Defining the Future
The University of Calgary’s Society for Military and Strategic Studies (SMSS) is comprised of a diverse group of students from a wide range of academic backgrounds with a common interest in security, strategy and military issues. The SMSS student conference provides a forum for discussion, debate and an intellectual network with other students, faculties, and the larger military and corporate communities.
Suggested topics include Revolutions in Military Affairs, terrorism, intelligence, civil-military relations, war and politics, science and technology, state (in)security, conflict and scarce resources, peacekeeping, and human security.
This list is not exhaustive and we encourage original ideas. Both undergraduate and graduate students from all disciplines are welcome. Proposals should be no longer than 250 words and presentations should conform to a 15-minute format.
