The University of Kentucky’s History Department invites paper and panel proposals for its annual conference on April 11-12, 2003. The Bluegrass Symposium provides a forum for graduate and advanced undergraduate students to present their works and receive feedback from faculty members and audiences.
Prizes of $100 will be awarded for the best overall undergraduate paper and the best graduate student paper on a Kentucky history topic. The graduate student paper will be published in the Register of the Kentucky Historical Society. To be eligible for these awards, participants must submit two copies of their paper by March 15.
This year’s keynote address will be given by Professor Richard J. M. Blackett, the Andrew Jackson Chair of History at Vanderbilt University.
To submit a proposal, send a one-page proposal for each presentation and a C.V. for each participant. Panel proposals should include 2 or 3 presenters and a commentator. Email submissions are encouraged.
Abstracts are due by January 15, 2003
