This International Conference on Scenography aims to investigate the relationship between patronage (state, institutional, communal, or private) and the theatre, and inquire into its role in shaping the stage both in the past and in the present. Contributions are invited from scholars in any relevant discipline, particularly theatre studies, cultural studies, history of art and design. Areas of interest include stage design, costume design, lighting design, sound design, theatre architecture, maks and puppets.
The Conference will be held under the auspices of the Theatre Institute in Prague, The Scenography Working Group of the International Federation for Theatre Research, and the Gordon Craig Society for Theatre Research. It will take place at the Theatre Institute in Prague, from June 18 to June 22, 2003, during the first week of the 10th Prague Quadrennial International Exhibition of Scenography and Theatre Architecture.
