Call for Papers

Abstracts invited for "New Thoughts on the Black Arts Movement," an interdisciplinary compilation of essays unveiling the depth and complexity of this cultural movement of the 1960s and 1970s. The co-editors of this anthology are looking for innovative essays addressing the following topics:

  • The centrality of protest poetry to the Black Arts movement
  • Comparisons between the Harlem Renaissance and the Black Arts movement
  • The Black Arts movement in the South
  • The "Black Aesthetic" and "Black Art"

    Please send a one page abstract and c.v. by November 1 to Lisa Collins or Margo Crawford.
