University of York, Centre for Eighteenth-Century Studies presents 'Literary Unveilings: The Poetics of Knowledge in the Long Eighteenth-century': a symposium of current PhD research on the long eighteenth century. The symposium will be held at Huntingdon Room, The King's Manor, York, Y01 7EP. Papers will include: Alison O'Byrne: 'London Spied: Writing and Re-writing the Metropolis in the C18th', David Higgins: 'The Cult of Genius: Magazines, readers and the Creative Artist 1802-37', Sam George 'Unveiling the mysteries of vegetation: Botany and the Feminine in C18th Literature', Simon White 'The Construction and Containment of Plebeian Poets in the Long C18th'.
