The Consortium on Revolutionary Europe will meet at the University of
Louisiana at Lafayette ‚Äì a.k.a. l'Universit*© des Acadiens ‚Äì in the heart of the Acadian prairie on February to February 23. This is a mere ten days or
so before Mardi Gras, so conference attendees will be afforded the
opportunity to sample not only our crawfish *©touff*©, but also the uniquely
rambunctious old r*©gime delights of Mardi Gras, Cajun style.
A block reservation has been made at the Hilton in Lafayette. The
conference rate for the rooms will be $75. For further information go to

Since 2003 is the occasion of the bicentennial of the Louisiana Purchase,
papers or panels related to the Purchase, or to the conjunction of cultures
that came together in Louisiana at that time will be very welcome. Papers and panels related to your current research in the general area of Revolutionary Europe (1750-1850), and the ramifications of these revolutions around the world will, of course, be welcomed also.
Proposals for individual papers or, preferably, complete panels,
should include titles; abstracts; short cvs with complete e-mail and postal
addresses. Please also indicate if you will need any audio-visual aids.
