The 25th annual meeting of the Society for Historians will take place at Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio, July 17-20, 2003. The Program Committee invites proposals for sessions and papers in all areas of research on the history and culture of the Early American Republic. At the same time, in recognition of the three noteworthy bicentennials that will be commemorated in 2003 (Ohio's admission to the union, the Louisiana Purchase, and the celebrated case of Marbury v. Madison), the meeting will also have a featured theme, Re-Constituting New Societies." Proposals for entire sessions, which are strongly encouraged, should include a brief statement of the rationale for the session, a one-page prospectus for each paper, and a c.v. for all participants including the chair and/or commentators. Proposals for individual papers will also be accepted. Scholars who would like to serve as chairs or commentators are invited to contact the program chair. Unless affiliated with disciplines other than history, all program participants are required to be members of SHEAR.
