A conference that examines the real and imaginative aspects of time and space in the construction of Balkan identity(ies) and culture(s) in the past and present. The papers presented by established scholars and up-and-coming academics in the fields of cultural, social and political studies, anthropology, economics, arts and history apply recent theory to variety of regional cases. The purpose of this project is to avoid the simplification of the region and its problems and to examine the multitude of existing forms of identity-building in the Balkans.
