The Biography and Popular Culture Area of the Popular Culture Association invites submissions for its annual joint meeting with the American Culture Association in New Orleans, Louisiana, April 16-19, 2003. Scholars from various disciplines will meet to share their Popular Culture interests and research.
The Biography and Popular Culture Area will examine the connections between biography and popular culture. Papers regarding any aspect of popular culture and biography are encouraged.
Full panel presentations will also be considered.
Possible paper or panel topics may include and are not limited to the following:
Autobiography
Literary Biography
Scandalous Biography
Biography in Film
Arts and Entertainment Biography Television Show
Political Biography
Psychoanalysis and Biography
Scholarly Biography
Fact vs. Fiction in Biography (For example, the controversy over Edmund Morris' Dutch: A Memoir of Ronald Reagan)
Historical Biography
Biography and Entertainment
Controversial Biographies
Prospective presenters should send a one-page abstract by September 10 to Jean-Paul Benowitz. Please include your email address along with your contact information.
Serious submissions only.
Please note that the PCA/ACA regulations limit participants to one paper presentation. Therefore, if you are interested in presenting in the Biography and Popular Culture Area, please do not submit an abstract to another area, but follow up on original submission if you do not hear from the chair by September 25, 2002.
