The Encyclopedia of American Social Movements is a comprehensive compendium of social movements in the America from the origins of the country, that includes essays by leading historians and political scientists, including Frances Fox Piven, Margaret Levi,Stanley Aronowitz, Paul Buhle, Phil Belfy, and others. Your name (and affiliation) will be listed in the table of contents and your article will be signed. The Encyclopedia will be published by M.E.Sharpe Publishers in the fall of 2003
Guidelines for articles: Your essay should have an introduction and be written in a chronological fashion. The essay should include a historical account of the emergence ande development of the movement(s), including the major individual and organizational actors. Entries should also objectively evaluate the success of the movement in achieving its/their goals. You can also incorporate social movement theory to account for the movements success/failure, etc. The entries should generally be free of jargon and be accessible to all readers, though directed at an academic, scholarly audience.
