The European Section of the Southern Historical Association seeks proposals for individual papers and entire panels to be presented at its meeting in Houston, Texas, 6-9 November 2003. Papers and panels (which should consist of two or three papers, a chair, and a commentator) on any aspect of European history are welcome; faculty members as well as graduate students are encouraged to submit proposals. It is recommended that no panel be comprised entirely of graduate students. One panel will also be devoted to comparative topics of broad interest to conference participants. The deadline for submitting proposals for the November 2003 meeting is October 1, 2002. This early deadline is necessary because the SHA plans its entire program for the following year at its meeting during the preceding fall.
If you are interested, please submit a brief description of your paper or panel proposal including name, title, affiliation, e-mail address, telephone number, and short curriculum vitae of each participant (or field of expertise, if you are willing to act as a chair or commentator of a panel) by October 1, 2002 to the Chair of the Program Committee.
