As Area Chair for the Sports Area of the Popular Culture Association
and the American Culture Association, I invite proposals for individual
presentations or panels to be presented at the Popular Culture Association and American Culture Association Annual meeting to be held at the Marriott Hotel New Orleans, Louisiana, April 16-19, 2003.
Papers or presentations should be planned for no more than twenty minutes and should emphasize audience involvement and aim at stimulating questions and discussion. Media presentations are especially welcomed and requested equipment will be provided. Topics related to any and all aspects of sports and sports history in the South and in Louisiana are especially invited. Topics on all areas of sports(history, literature, sociology, physical education and recreation,current issues, etc.) are welcomed. The absolute deadline for a 250-word abstract is September 16, 2002. Inquiries about possible papers or proposals for sessions are also welcomed. There will be a
strict limitation of one presentation per person for this conference. All presenters must register for the convention and be a current member of either the PCA or the ACA. Pre-registration for the meeting is required in order for participants to have their names listed in the conference program.
