Professor John A. Salmond will deliver the Eighth Annual Bailyn Lecture on Monday, 7 October, at 6.30 pm in the Council Room of the John Scott Meeting House, La Trobe University.
Professor Salmond's topic is
The Southern Struggles: Aspects of the Fight for Economic and Social Justice in the Twentieth Century American South
Refreshments will be provided at the conclusion of the lecture.
The accompanying North American Studies Seminar will be held on Thursday,10 October, in the Council Room of the John Scott Meeting House, La Trobe University, starting at 10 am.
This seminar will be a celebration of Professor Salmond's long and distinguished career as an historian of the American South. A distinguished group of Australian and International historians will present papers. Details of the programme can be obtained from bailyn@latrobe.edu.au
Dinner in the Adams Restaurant will follow the final session. The cost will be $50.00 (approx).
