Please consider joining the “Frontier House” Area as we discuss the recent PBS series detailing the trials, hopes, joys, and heartbreak of three 21st century American families transported back in time to 1883, Montana. Several panels are being planned for this event and therefore I suggest like our frontier families a little prior planning will assure that your proposal will be accepted. Topics may include but are not limited to the following:
- “Frontier House:” Nothing more than a PBS “Survivor” Series?

- From Survival to Self Promotion: 21st Century Cultural Values in Frontier House
- Frederick Jackson Turner's theories and Frontier Living
- "Frontier House" vs. "Heartland" and "Letters of a Woman Homesteader"
- Historical methods and the authenticity of "Frontier House"
These topics are intended as a guide for your reading and research. Deadline for all panel and paper proposals is 15 August, 2002. We are anticipating a number of panels and we are trying to bring in some of the research and production staff for the popular series.
