"The most profound emotion we can experience is the sensation of the mystical. It is the sower of all true science." Albert Einstein
Is our consciousness just a mass of brain processes? An evolutionary by-product with no meaning or purpose? Or is it something 'beyond the brain', a bridge to other powerful, hidden dimensions of reality? Organised by the Scientific & Medical Network and sponsored by the John Templeton Foundation (USA), "Science, Consciousness and Ultimate Reality" is designed specifically to explore today's science-religion interface.
This project comes at a stage where science itself realises that many of its presuppositions are underpinned by a series of interconnected assumptions, and at a time when many scientists are themselves seeking the insights of religion.
This major international conference is the culmination of a pioneering programme of dialogues and seminars across universities in the UK and Ireland. It is suitable for all with an interest in the nature of science, consciousness and reality. It is designed with plenty of time for dialogue and interaction.
Conference themes are: Science, Consciousness and Epistemology; Mind, Brain and Beyond; Cosmic Purpose and Human Values in Science and Religion; Mystical Experience and the Spiritual Convergence of Religions.
Speakers Include: Ravi Ravindra, Sir John Polkinghorne, Dr Peter Fenwick and Prof. Keith Ward.
