Australia's fifth annual gay and lesbian history conference will be held in Newscastle NSW (just outside Sydney) as part of a series of conferences in the weeks leading up to Sydney Gay Games. The conference will be continuing its tradition of exploring Australia's rich history of same-sex desire and activity.
Papers will be presented by established academics, newer and younger scholars and independent researchers addressing any of the various aspects of Australia's molly, camp, homosexual, gay, lesbian, bisexual, tranny, queer histories. From the sexual cultures of the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, through the development of gay and lesbian politics and communities we will be revealing and revelling in the history they didn't tell us about at school.
The conference is sponsored by the Australian Lesbian and Gay Archives.
