We are seeking scholars of history, literature, science, religion, and philosophy to write brief articles (600-800 words) on the role of reading in the lives of important figures in the development of western culture since 1914. For our purposes, culture is defined broadly, incorporating the contributions of politicians, businessmen, sports figures, scientists, and popular entertainers, as well as writers, philosophers, religious figures, and artists. We are in the final stages of the project, which will be published in two volumes by Greenwood Press in early 2003.
