The conference The Baltic Sea Region 2010 will take place in Copenhagen at the beginning of the Danish EU-presidency in September 2002 at the Danish National Museum. It accompanies an art exhibition in the Danish National Museum with the title MARE BALTICUM - THE BALTIC SEA - 1000 years of myth, history and art. The aim is to have a high-ranking multidisciplinary scientific event with the most renowned experts on the questions of regionbuilding, transformation, EU-accession and other relevant topics.

The conference is being arranged by two partner projects at the Humboldt University of Berlin: The Research Training Network BALTIC SEA NET (http://www2.hu-berlin.de/BaltSeaNet/) and the International Quality Network Ostseekolleg Berlin - Baltic Sea School Berlin (http://www2.hu-berlin.de/ostseekolleg/). Members of the organizing committee are based in Berlin and Copenhagen.
