Lusophones Within Africa: Past and Future
Thematic Call for Papers by the Portuguese Studies Review
Papers submitted in this category should focus on any aspect of the history of Portugal in Africa, or on the historical context and contemporary parameters affecting the economic, social, cultural, and political fortunes of Lusophone Africa, and shaping the future paths open to the countries in question and to their close neighbours and regional partners. Authors are invited to blend methodological approaches in order to achieve multi-faceted looks at the continuum of past and present factors and driving forces. Papers ranging outside of traditionally conceived topics will be welcome. We hope that this call for contributions will open up a useful range of debates on themes ranging from ecotourism to regional economic and labour policies, from natural resources to epidemic and endemic disease factors, from security issues to political dynamics, and from demography and education to ecology and to the penetration of new technologies into the relevant regions. The contributors are urged to inscribe the issues relating to Lusophone Africa into broader African and global contexts.
