Lusophone Heritage and Future: Entering the 21st Century
Thematic Call for Papers by the Portuguese Studies Review
Papers submitted in this category should offer an interdisciplinary look at various key combinations of factors (historical, economic, political, social, legal, technological, managerial, educational, ecological, and military), affecting the paths and choices that will confront Lusophone countries, as well as areas and communities historically influenced by contacts with Portuguese culture and institutions, as they enter the 21st century. Contributors are invited to explore (a) issues relating to Portugal's place in the EU and in current security and military partnerships, (b) the structures and dynamics of bilateral or multilateral links within the Lusophone community, (c) the roles that various components of this community can be expected to play in the context of globalization processes and of resistance against or adaptation to the latter, (d) the changing nature of ties between Lusophone and non-Lusophone countries, and (e) the issues that bear on the Lusophone community's positioning within the global context.
