The New York Metro American Studies Association (NYMASA), in partnership with the Sept. 11 Digital Archive (911digitalarchive.org), is seeking proposals for papers and presentations for "September 11: One Year After," an interdisciplinary conference to be held at the Museum of the City of New York on October 19, 2002.

The conference will include a variety of formats, such as panels, roundtables, and online components. If you would like to propose an alternative format, please let us know.

Possible topics may include:

• Teaching 9/11 in the classroom
• Archiving, memorializing, and representing the September 11th
• Media coverage of the attacks and their aftermath
• The response of Cultural Institutions
• Patriotism, Irony and Heroism reconsidered
• Muslims in America
• Academic freedom
• Civil liberties, immigration and racial profiling
• New York City and America; New York City and the World
• Gender Issues
• Architectural and city planning concerns
