The steering committee for the Sixth Annual Graduate Student History and Theory Conference at the University of California, Irvine, invites proposals for its 2002 conference. This conference will explore theories and histories that examine the construction, policing, and crossing of borders, be they political, social or cultural. Interdisciplinary graduate student papers and panels are welcomed, as are presentations using multimedia or performance. Panel and paper topics might include (but are not limited to) the following:
- Colonialism/Neo-Colonialism
- Imperialism/Neo-Imperialism
- Trade and Traffic
- Globalization
- Urban and Rural Spaces
- Bodies and Desire
- Migrations and Diasporas
- Memory
- Subjectivities and Identities
Submission Information:
Proposals for individual presentations and panels should reach us by June 30, 2002
Cover page with name, address, phone number and e-mail
Abstract of no more than 250 words
A short (two-page maximum) CV
Panel submissions must include:
- Cover page for each participant with name, address, phone number and e-mail (Please specify panel organizer)
- Panel abstract of no more than 250 words
- 250 word description of each paper
- A short (two-page maximum) CV for each participant
Panels will consist of three participants. We will provide chairs and discussants for all panels.
